19th May 2005

KLABB KOTBA MALTIN is publishing Immanuel Mifsud's collection of travel poems, km. The book launch will be held at the Francis Ebejer Hall, University, on Thursday 19th May, at 7.30pm
This book was inspired by the kilometres I travelled through ten European countries: the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Spain, Poland, Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria. The poems range from personal documents to my reactions to some of the most significant historical events of these different places, such as the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution, the disitegration of Yugoslavia, the Polish scar of the Holocaust, and the diverse experiences of Communist regimes in these countries.

Published by Klabb Kotba Maltin a year after Malta joined the European Union, km documents my voyage as a writer who sets sail from the periphery to the centre of a continent with a troubled history of empires, blood and iron curtains.
Note to that bunch of Maltese Bloggers who found refuge on the Continent (I mean Feltrinelli and Co): with the huge heap of Euros you are being paid thanks to the Maltese language you should afford to buy a ticket to the Rock and come for the launch. Be seeing you!
